The Ultra Space Wonders event has made an exciting addition to Pokémon Go, introducing three formidable Ultra Beasts: Naganadel, Stakataka, and Blacephalon.
Stakataka and Blacephalon are region-specific Pokémon found exclusively in five-star raids, while Naganadel can be evolved from Poipole, which players can capture through the World of Wonders special research quest already available.
In addition to these new Pokémon, players can immerse themselves in the Ultra Space Wonders Collection Challenges and exclusive research tasks. The event also marks the arrival of shiny Mareanie and the conclusion of the World of Wonders special research quest.
Collection Challenge: Catch Pokémon
The Ultra Space Wonders Collection Challenge: Catch is active until Tuesday, May 28th, at 8 PM (local time). Completing this challenge will reward players with various prizes and contribute to their Elite Collector Medal. However, missing the deadline means forfeiting these rewards.
Here’s a list of Pokémon included in this Collection Challenge along with how to find them:
- Tentacool – Available in the wild
- Skrelp – Encountered in the wild
- Mareanie – Found in the wild
By successfully finishing this challenge, players will earn 1,000 XP and receive a Mareanie encounter.
Collection Challenge: Research Pokémon
The Ultra Space Wonders Collection Challenge: Research is also running until Tuesday, May 28th, at 8 PM (local time). By completing this challenge, trainers will earn rewards and progress their Elite Collector Medal. Those who do not finish the challenge before the deadline will miss out on the associated rewards.
To successfully complete this challenge, players are required to catch Pokémon linked to specific research tasks. Fortunately, the Ultra Space Wonders event features exclusive field research tasks that encompass all three Pokémon. Seasonal field research tasks might also be beneficial.
The following Pokémon are part of the Collection Challenge: Research, along with their conditions:
- Nidoran Female – Complete the event-exclusive research task (Catch 10 Pokémon) or the seasonal task (Make 10 Nice Throws).
- Nidoran Male – Follow the same conditions as Nidoran Female.
- Trubbish – Associated with the event-exclusive research task (Power up Pokémon 10 times) and seasonal task (Hatch an Egg).
Finishing this challenge rewards participants with 5,000 XP and a Trubbish encounter.
Collection Challenge: Raid Pokémon
The Ultra Space Wonders Collection Challenge: Raid is open until Tuesday, May 28th, at 8 PM (local time). Similar to previous challenges, completing this one will grant players rewards and contribute to their Elite Collector Medal. Notably, failure to complete the challenge results in no rewards.
For this challenge, Pokémon must be caught after defeating them in a raid. Here’s a list of Pokémon included in this Collection Challenge: Raid:
- Bagon – Appears in one-star raids
- Deino – Found in one-star raids
- Druddigon – Available in three-star raids
Completing this challenge will yield 10,000 XP and a Mareanie encounter.
Field Research Tasks
During the Ultra Space Wonders event, players can spin PokéStops to collect event-exclusive field research tasks. These tasks can be stored and completed later; however, tackling them during the event aids in fulfilling Collection Challenges effectively.
The available field research tasks are as follows:
- Catch 10 Pokémon – Reward: Nidoran Female or Nidoran Male encounter
- Power up Pokémon 5 times – Reward: Trubbish encounter
- Power up Pokémon 10 times – Reward: Mareanie encounter
- Win a raid – Reward: Goomy or Jangmo-o encounter
Additional Insights on Ultra Space Wonders
The Ultra Space Wonders event marks the introduction of Naganadel in Pokémon Go. To evolve Poipole into Naganadel, trainers must catch 20 Dragon-type Pokémon with Poipole as their buddy and then spend 200 Poipole Candy.
As a part of this event, the final segment of the World of Wonders Special Research quest will be made available. Trainers must claim this quest by Saturday, June 1st, at 9:59 AM (local time) to ensure they can add Poipole and Naganadel to their Pokédex.
Notably, Stakataka and Blacephalon will also be debuting as Ultra Beasts during this event, but these two Pokémon are limited to specific regions: Stakataka is exclusive to five-star raids in the Eastern Hemisphere, while Blacephalon is available in the Western Hemisphere. To capture both, players can utilize apps like Poke Genie and Remote Raid Passes. There is always the possibility of these Pokémon switching hemispheres in the future.
An exciting benefit throughout the event running until May 28th at 8 PM (local time) is the doubled XP for winning battles against Ultra Beasts—an excellent opportunity for trainers aiming for high XP rewards.
